 Every United Methodist Church has a Board of Trustees. Our church’s board is made up of nine members who come from three “membership classes.” Each member serves for three years.
The property that can be referred to as Central United Methodist Church is entrusted to the church’s Board of Trustees. According to The Book of Discipline of the United Methodist 2008 (¶2532.1), “the board of trustees shall have the supervision, oversight, and care of all real property owned by the local church and of all property and equipment acquired directly by the local church or by any society, board, class, commission, or similar organization connected therewith, provided that the board of trustees shall not violate the rights of any local church organization nor prevent or interfere with the pastor in the use of any of the said property for religious services or other proper meetings or purposes.”
This ministry team audits our church facilities including the parsonage to insure that they are maintained in good condition, meet code standards, and insure that the facilities do not create barriers that would impede the full participation of people with disabilities in church activities.
The board of trustees administers and receives all bequests made to the church. In addition, they receive and administer all trusts that are received.
