One of the most active ministry groups at Central United Methodist Church is our United Methodist Women (UMW) who are consistent in their fundraising for our missions’ projects and always ready to give a hand when called upon. The ladies of our UMW have been recognized by our Annual Conference for their successful fund raising efforts on behalf of missions’ projects both here at Central and in the general church.
United Methodist Women is an organization of approximately one million members throughout the United Methodist Church whose purpose is to foster spiritual growth, develop leaders and advocate for justice. Members raise nearly $25 million each year for programs and projects related to women, children and youth in the United States and in more than 100 countries around the world.
Our UMW is organized into “circle” fellowship groups that meet at various times throughout the month. The convenience of these circle meetings allows for women who attend Central to find a “circle” that fits into their own personal schedules. Women of all ages are active members of our UMW and the various “circles.”
On Tuesday mornings there are the sounds of children and women laughing in our toddler’s room. This means that our Young Mother’s fellowship group is meeting. This fellowship has become a special time of friendship and Bible study for young mom’s who live incredibly busy lives.
Every aspect of our church’s life has women involved and we are always looking for more women who are willing to use their gifts and talents on our ministry teams. The women of Central United Methodist Church are our Sunday School teachers, youth leaders, cooks, blanket knitters, carpenters, mission leaders, visionaries for our church’s future and much more.
